ADMISSION 2010

Admissions during the academic year 2010 - 2011
University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Carol Davila" Bucharest 
 

* under the Education Law no. 84/1995, republished, with the subsequent amendments;
* in accordance with Law no. 288/2004 regarding the organization of the universitary studies, as amended and supplemented;
* in accordance with GEO. 133/2000 regarding the universitary and postgraduate education on state tax-funded places over the state budget, approved with amendments by Law no. 441 / 2001 with the subsequent amendments;
* in according to the Government’s Decission no. 1004/2002 on motivating pupils and students who received awards in school competitions organized for the undergraduate education;
* according to the Government’s Decission no. 749/2009 on the structures of the higher education institutions and the specializations / graduation universitary programs or authorized to work temporarly organized by them with the subsequent amendments;
* according to the Government’s Decission no. 364 / 2010 regarding the aproval of the tuition numbers for the undergraduate and superior state education in the school / academic year 2010 – 1011, in conjunction with OMECTS no. 3835 / 17.05.2010 on  the allocation of the tuition numbers on higher education for admission in the academic year 2010 – 1011, the admission in the academic year 2010 – 2011 on fields of study on 21.07.2010 in all the faculties (Medicine, Dentistry, Farmacy and Nursing and Midwifery), the written test start time being 9.00 a.m.
 
Registrations will be between 12 – 18.07.2010 on the following program:
 
* 12 – 16.07.2010 between 9.00 – 15.00
* On the 17th and 18.07.2010 between 09.00 – 13.00
 

The registration fee is 200 RON for all the faculties and specializations; 75% of the amount of the tax is the administrative fee and 25% the participation fee, the latter being returned in case of withdrawal from the contest before the beginning of the tests.

The participation fee will be payed into an account that will be announced later on the site, the payment being proven in the moment of the registration at the Faculty’s Secretaries via the receipt issued by the bank desk were the deposit was made.
According to the Education Law, the teachers' children are exempted from paying the participation fee (25% of the registration fee) once, for each cycle of the universitary education.
Exemption of the registration fee (total of partial) is allowed, exceptionally, by the decision of the UMF Carol Davila’s Senate for the following categories of candidates:
* orphans of both parents;
* candidates institutionalized in care establishments;
* children from poor families (minimum income per family member under the minimum income) or with special problems;
* heroes of Romanian Revolution and their children;
* children from the families affected by natural disasters
The candidates in the situations described above will present at the registration the proving documents for the approval of the Chief Secretaries of the faculties that organize competition for admission.
The candidates registration will be made at the Secretariat of the Faculty of Medicine (Bd. Eroilor Sanitari, nr. 8, sector 5) for the Faculty of Medicine and FMAM, respectively the Faculty of Dentistry (Calea Plevnei nr. 5, sector 5) and the Faculty of Pharmacy (Str. Traian Vuia nr. 6, sector 1).
The candidates will present for registration the following documents:
1. The registration application form, completed by the secretaries on computer and signed by the candidate after the examination of the data compliance;
2. The Baccalaureate diploma in original and certified copy, the latter being neccessary for those who sign up to the second faculty and compulsory accompanied by the document proving this situation (a certified copy of degree and transcripts)
The candidates who passed the Baccalaureate exam session in June of the school year 2009 – 2010 can present at registration, instead of the Baccalaureate diploma, a certificate released by the high school where should be compulsory specified the general mark from the Baccalaureate, the marks obtained during the high school years, the validity of the certificate and that a Baccalaureate diploma was not released.
3. Copy of the valid identity card/passport or military ID
4. Birth certificate authorized copy
5. 4 ID type color photos
6. Medical certificate from the school’s doctor / family doctor attesting that the person is fit for education - original
7. Marriage certificate, certified copy (if applicable)
8. Filed envelope.
In this year there’s no need of medical visit made at registration. For admission in the academic year 2010 – 2011 it is also possible the online pre-registration of candidates, the form to be filled by the candidate being found on UMF Carol Davila’s web site (www.univermed-cdgm.ro). Candidates will print the filled form and, after signing it, will present it at the Secretariat, together with the other documents mentioned above, this representing the request for registration.

The Olympics registration will be performed on the basis of the MECTS list that will be communicated for display to the Faculty Secretariats. UMF Carol Davila accepts subscriptions from candidates who have obtained awards (awards I, II, III, special awards) in subjects Biology, Physics, Chemistry at the international school Olympics recognized by the MECTS. In both situations it’s only about the participants laureates of the last two scholar years Olympics (2008 – 2009 and 2009 – 2010).

Registrations for candidates who have already graduated will be on fee places, and if they succeed, the Faculty Deanships will analyze the situation of examination fees and the exams validation for the inclusion in the academic year.
 
By law, an admitted candidate may receive funding from the state budget only once for each of the three cycles of university studies (bachelor, master and doctoral studies). After the duration of free education, as provided by law, the students have to pay taxes for the academic studies for that cycle of university studies.
At registration, candidates will receive a badge printed and numbered.

University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila Bucharest organizes study admission fee regime for all 4 faculty allocated places (shown in the table below) representing up to 48% of total budgeted places;  the compulsory condition for admission on fee places is getting a proper scoring average at least 5 for admission in UMF Carol Davila session in July 2010.

Tuition for young Romanian ethnic origin from Moldova, Romania secondary school graduates

The study fee set by the Senate Carol Davila University of Medicine for academic studies 2010 - 2011 is 6,000 RON / academic year. Annual study fee may be paid in two rates (the first paid at registration, the 2nd until the beginning of the semester of the academic year). 
According to the Order of the Minister of National Defence on the tuition plan in military educational institutions of education in 2010 - 2011, for the Medical Military Institute have been approved 51 places UMF Carol Davila Bucharest, as follows:
 
For the Ministry of National Defense

1. 16 places with funds provided by the budget for Medical Specialization
2. 5 places financed from the budget for Dentistry
3. 3 places with funds provided by the budget for Pharmacy


To National Prison Administration

1. 15 places with funds provided by the budget for Medical Specialization
2. 5 places financed from the budget for Dentistry
3. 2 places with funds provided by the budget for Pharmacy

For the Ministry of Interior and Administration
1. 5 places with funds provided by the budget for Medical Specialization
Admission to these places will have the same date and under the same conditions at the faculties of Carol Davila University of Medicine.

Admission exams - UMF Carol Davila Bucharest - July 2010 session:
* The examination halls and the distribution of candidates in rooms will be displayed on the notice boards of the Faculty of Medicine (for general Medicine and  FMAM), the Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Pharmacy.
* For presentation at the examination room on the examination day candidates must have their ID / identity card (or passport / military ID) and the registration card issued by the Faculty Secretaries.
* The entrance in the examination room will begin at 8:00 on the day of competition, the tests will start at 9:00. It is not alowed, under any circumstances, the entrance of the candidates after the written test starting time.

The examination will take 2 ½ hours for general Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy, 2 hours for admission to General Nursing and Midwifery specialties and an hour and half that for the other specializations of FMAM.

For the Faculties of General Medicine and Dentistry the examination will include two disciplines (Biology compulsory and at choice, Physics or Chemistry), reaching a total of 100 questions, 60 for the compulsory discipline and 40 for the chosen discipline.
For the Faculty of Pharmacy, the examination will include two disciplines (organic chemistry required, with 60 questions and at choice, plant biology or human biology with 40 questions), total: 100 questions.
For Midwifery and General Nursing the examination will include two disciplines (Biology and binding, respectively, Physics and Chemistry of choice) with a total of 80 questions (60 for the compulsory discipline and 20 for the chosen discipline).
For the rest of the FMAM specialties (Dental Assistance, Dental Technicians, Pharmacy Assistance, Radiology and Imaging, Clinical Laboratory, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Therapy) the Biology exam will be compulsory and physics or chemistry at choice with a total of 60 questions, including 40 for Biology and 20 for chosen discipline.

Candidates are required to specify in the application form which will be the chosen discipline for the exam.

The exam topics and references are displayed at the Deanships of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy.

The thesis correction will be made in the examination room, in the presence of candidates. They will be informed about the score, under the signature. This correction will be followed by computer generated results. Each correctly answered question is rated 1 point.

The final results and the list of admitted  candidates will be displayed at the Faculty noticeboards within 48 hours after the completion of tests.
The candidates are declared admitted when they have the written exam score equal to or higher than the corresponding mark 5.00. At FMAM they will be admitted according to their score and policy options for specializations offered declared in written by the candidates.
Filing appeals
will be made by candidates in person, by request to the Dean of Faculty who organized the admission and submitted the Faculty Secretariats, within 24 hours after the list of successful candidates has been displayed.
The appeals’ solving
will be made by reviewing the tests in the presence of candidates by the Appeals’ Commission proposed by the Faculty Deanships. The date and place of the analysis will be announced by displaying at the Faculty Secretaries which organizes the admission in UMF „Carol Davila”. The decision of The Appeals’ Commisssion is indefeasible.

*
For the admission in the universitary studies may apply citizens of European Union membership, the Members of the European Economic Area and Swiss Confederation on the same terms provided by law for Romanian citizens, including the tuition fees.
* Upon registration candidates in this category should have their studies recognized in their country of residence, conducted by specialized Directorate of the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports of Romania.

* On admission to academic studies taught in Romanian citizens of the States mentioned above are required to submit a Language Proficiency Certificate issued by the Romanian language Department of Modern Languages and Pharmacy Carol Davila.

* The registration of candidates admitted in the first academic year on places financed from the budget will be between 01 - 15/09/2010. Candidates are required to submit by this date the highschool diploma (original) at the Faculty Secretaries. The failure of this submission, from the exclusive fault of the candidates leads to the loss of the place financed by the budget and the exclusion from UMF Carol Davila - Bucharest.

* The registration on fee places made as approved by the Senate Carol Davila University of Medicine and providing the minimum score required (appropriate mark 5), will be between 01 - 15/09/2010.

* The return of files for unsuccessful candidates and those who quit at admission will be achieved tax free, after the display of final results and within 48 hours of submission of the refund request.

* Additional information can be obtained from The Deanships of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy or at the UMF Carol Davila Rectorship.

Romanian language exam for issuing certificates of language proficiency for applicants from EU countries

Romanian language examination for applicants from EU who participate at the admission exam at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Carol Davila" Bucharest will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 12:00 at the Department of Modern Languages in the Faculty of Medicine, Bvd Eriolor Sanitari 8 Bucharest, Sector 5

The exam will consist of two tests: written and oral.

Written test will include:

* Understanding of a sample of written communication: text in Romanian language with multiple answer questions;
* Written competency test which will consist of a text (wording questions, essay, summary, paraphrasing, changing the shape of words).

Oral examination will include:

* Evidence of understanding of oral communication, consisting of activities based on texts read in the eamination room;
* Evidence of oral competence by supporting short presentations on topics of education and / or specialized issues in accordance with the admission exam (biology, physics, chemistry).

For each test (written and oral) are given grades from 1 to 10, the lowest passing grade of each test being 5.00 (five). The final grade is the arithmetic mean of tests, written and oral, the lowest passing grade being 5.00 (five).

Candidates who do not achieve the minimum grade written test can not be presented in the oral test.
The certificates will be issued Friday, July 9 between 11-13 hours at the Department, Faculty of Medicine, Bvd Eroilor Sanitari No. 8.
